Castles of Wallonia

Visit two great castles in Wallonia. There are located just a short drive from the chalet.

The Castle of Modave was entirely restored in the XVIIth century by the earl Jean-Gaspard-Ferninand de Marchin. Visitors are most impressed by the grand architecture in the typical French royal tradition. Beds of roses lay by the side of the castle. The garden is surrounded by a 450 hectares nature reserve. You can visit it all year round.

The Castle of La Roche-en-Ardenne is a great example of the typical chateau fort. It was first built a fortification in the IXth century. It is located on a rocky promontory over the Ourthe River. The village below the castle has a great atmosphere. A walking trail will take you uphill to a spot with a great view over the valley below.
